About
A reference for racket setups.
Racket Index is a community-built database of the rackets, strings, and tensions used by the pros — and by the rest of us. The goal is simple: make it easy to see what the data actually says.
Why this exists
Information on pro racket setups is scattered. Forum threads, old YouTube videos, manufacturer press releases that quietly disagree with what the player actually uses. If you want to know what strings Alcaraz had in his frame at a specific tournament, or how Sinner's tension changes on clay versus hard court, you're piecing it together yourself.
Pro setups are not static. Rackets and strings change through a season — sometimes between matches, often between surfaces, and sometimes between countries depending on conditions. The data is interesting precisely because it moves. But only if someone is tracking it.
Racket Index exists to be that tracker, with the help of the community.
How it works
The site has two core datasets:
- Pro setups — an authoritative-as-possible record of ATP and WTA players' rackets, strings, patterns, and tensions. Sourced, reviewed, and updated over time.
- Community setups — submissions from players of every level. What you play with, what you've tried, what worked.
From there, the interesting stuff: brand share across the tour, tension distributions, head-size trends, and direct comparisons between your own setup and the pros. The more data, the sharper the insights.
Where it's going
Early data focuses on the frame and strings — the two most important variables and the ones players are most curious about. As the dataset grows the plan is to expand: grip specs, swing weight, balance, surface-specific changes, tension drop over time, and eventually a proper head-to-head comparison layer that goes beyond the basics.
Community participation is the engine. Every setup logged makes the averages better, the rankings more accurate, and the comparisons more useful.
Who's behind it
Racket Index is built by Henry Rowe — a tennis player and racket nerd who got tired of hunting through forums for setup information that should just exist in one place. Not a brand, not a retailer, not sponsored by a manufacturer. Just someone who thought the data was worth collecting.
